How can i get graduate school eventhough my GPA is less than 2.7 in USA , Canada or Australia

How can i get graduate school eventhough my GPA is less than 2.7 in USA , Canada or Australia?
My undergraduate degree is in Computer Science

In the USA the Colleges / Universities just do not look at your GPA they may also consider your GRE score, Statement of Purpose, Letter of Recommedation and other activities. In Canada the Universities may demand a min of 3.0 and above GPA but you have option of opting for Pvt. Colleges. They offer ONE year Graduate Diploma or Certificate course. In Australia there are some universities which may offer you admission with what you have...
2 :
Often a good GRE score, research experience, or letters of recommendation will offset bad grades. None of the schools I applied to had a MINIMUM grade point average. Some might have had the average undergraduate GPA or something, but half the students that make it have below average grades, so this is not a minimum. Maybe you wouldn't get into UCLA or something, but many smaller programs are desperate for students. Apply for schools in a wide range of rankings and see what you get.

What are the best flight schools in Australia

What are the best flight schools in Australia?
I would like to become a commercial pilot, and I am currently looking for flight schools abroad ( I am Indonesian). I’ve considered studying in America, but from what I’ve seen it’s very very expensive. I’ve been looking into flight academy’s down under. Yet there are so many flight academies, that I am really confused which one is the best to choose. I’ve been looking into these in particular: Airline Academy of Australia, Australian Wings Academy and Australian National Aviation College, National Aerospace Training. Can anybody give my any insight into these four schools, or other for that matter? Thank you very much for your time!!!

Jeet Kune Do schools in Australia, Sydney, Eastern Suburbs or CBD

Jeet Kune Do schools in Australia, Sydney, Eastern Suburbs or CBD?
Are there any instructors or schools for Jeet Kune Do in Australia. AND don't tell me to google it, cos I have, but I realized that sometimes places teach Jeet Kune Do but don't specialize. So they don't advertise it. Are there any places to learn jeet kune do in the eastern suburbs or CBD area? I live in Bellevue hill so anywhere less than 25 minutes away from there is fine. Hey guys, some good answers so far. I did do Wing Chun for a while, but I didn't really like it. It just wasn't me. I'm kinda on hiatus, from MA, but I have had experience in Wing Chun, Kyokushin Karate, Muay Thai and Wrestling. I'm starting up a bit of TKD in a couple of weeks with my friend. Hmmm... What do you guys think about Tommy Carruthers Online Club? I mean obviously its not as good as the real thing, but it really is the closest thing I can find.

I was going to recommend you to visit the Jeet Kune Do - Australian Jeet Kune Do Association website --> www.jkd.com.au/Jeet_Kune_Do.htm, but none are really close to you. I've visited a few places, but the styles incorporated varies from place to place depending on the instructor. It might be a good idea to find the styles that only you want to do, take the best from them and incorporate them into your own style. Look at the founder of the concept of JKD - Bruce Lee. He did about 4 years of Wing Chun, and when he went to the US he learnt a bit of Judo, Wrestling, TKD, Boxing, Fencing etc.. No JKD place in Australia does exactly this.. Bruce did it because he thought it was necessary for himself. Now if you went to Smithfield JKD for example, they mostly do Kickboxing and Silat. Thats why i recommend you to pick and incorporate all the styles 'you' prefer, rather than have someone teach you bits you may not be deeply interested in. Oh BTW nice area you live in!

take wing chun from Jim Fung, then let him tell you about jkd after you've done two years of wing chun

What are some Medicine Schools in Australia

What are some Medicine Schools in Australia?
Im a year 10 Student Currently doing my subject selection forms. I really wish to pursue a career in Pediatric Surgery. As you can tell i'm probably going to take 4 units of science and the standard or requirement of 2 units of english. Math isn't really one of my strong suits however Im willing to work hard. Im not going to take math as a subject for year 11 and 12 but i'm basically wondering What schools offer a Degree in Medicine. I looked at University of Wollongong and their ATAR Cut off would be 83. I want to go to University of Western Sydney however they have an ATAR cut off at 93. If I don't get that ATAR I wont be able to go to that University. Im basically asking if theres any other Medicine Schools who have some lower ATAR Cut offs in Australia. I just want some backup Universities in case I don't meet their ATAR Requirements as Medicine is the thing I want to do with my life. Im not fussy with location and more than willing to move after my HSC Any help you could give Would be greatly Appreciated. E-mail me at Georgtamm@hotmail.com if you need more info thank you :D

Wollongong has the lowest ATAR score for medicine in the country - so if you do not get into that university you will not get into any. If you are not doing maths then you will unlikely pass the interview as this is a pre-req subject for many of the university medicine programs.

Hi, To get an answer to your question, I suggest that you contact TAFE and ask them directly. That way you can rely on the information supplied. You might like to consider another possibility - in Australia there are school-based training programs combined with Trades Training provided by the Australian government for year 11 and 12 students. These colleges offer year 11 and 12 training and also 'hands-on' training in a range of vocational education programs. The phone number to contact is 1300 727 494. Many of the services offered are for young men and women in the Building and Construction Industry, however, depending on where you live, there may be other types of career on-offer. All it takes is a phone call to check it out. If there is a TAFE College near where you live, just call by and talk with one of their people, ask for a Course Information Pack and take pen and paper with you to make notes of phone numbers and any contact names that you may be given. I suggest that you complete Year 10 School Certificate. Very best wishes for your career.

How has the continent of Australia effected the world

How has the continent of Australia effected the world?
Australia is never discussed in school and I am interested to learn some history about Australia

just two prominent appearances of australia on the stage of world history: -the rumors and legends of some yet unknown southern continent 'terra australis' incited some exploration expeditions which finally led to the discovery of that continent and other areas. - in world war one after the battle at gallipoli australian soldiers became more known here in europe.
2 :
By its location Australia is strategically placed to be the "back door" of S E asia.
3 :
If there were no Australia the Southern Hemisphere might be too light, the Earth become unbalanced and tip on its side! Lima, Peru would move from the equator to the north pole! Aside from providing a dumping ground for Britain's 19th century undesirables and some excellent troops in the world wars, Australia's main contribution to the world so far has been Mel Gibson.

Some universities (UniMelbourne) have some subjects offered in Summer (December/February) but these are non-practical subjects (not Physics, Biology, Chemistry) and they are mostly arts, economics, history etc. These cost significantly more than the subjects taken during the normal semester and are only available to students enrolled in a Bachelor degree at that university.

Why does Public schools in Australia have the 2nd lowest standards in the OECD apart from USA being the lowest

Why does Public schools in Australia have the 2nd lowest standards in the OECD apart from USA being the lowest?
for public schools? why are Finland, Canada and Japan doing far better in terms of their public education, the private schools in their countries don't receive any funding and the public system educates 99% of all students in the following three countries and they all have high tech equipment in all schools in the countries and they have a level playing field, whats up with Australia? Can't we aspire to be like them, or isn't it that simple? please comment? fruitsalad and zafir, here is the link for proof: http://www.conferenceboard.ca/hcp/details/education.aspx#weakness Some Quotes: "What is Canada doing right? Canada’s strength is in its public system that provides many Canadians with a good education and the basic skills they need to enter the workforce and achieve substantial success. The system’s primary focus is on delivering education to young people, aged 5 to 25. Over the past 15 years, raising the high-school graduation rate has been a major educational priority—a response to the growing consensus that high-school graduation is the prerequisite stepping stone to post-secondary education, now deemed essential to success in the labour market. Canada has one of the highest rates of high-school and college completion in the world. While Canadians are at school, they become well educated, for the most part, in core subjects like mathematics, reading, and science." Some Quotes cont.: "How would Canada rank if Finland were excluded? Taking Finland out of the reckoning would produce significantly different results. Canada would become the top-performing country. Almost all peer countries would improve their grades. Depending on one’s view of the “Finnish Threat, this may be a more realistic assessment of Canada’s performance in the Education and Skills category. It is one that better reflects Canada’s absolute and relative performance both in the last year and over time."

I find it ironic that you've asked a question about education standards in Australia which is unintelligible, lol.
2 :
Source please? I don't see anything in the article that even mentions public shooling, or that puts it at second lowest in the OECD. It shows better education outcomes in Finland and to some extent Canada, and we are somewhere in the top 5 depending on which statistic you look at. Finland to achieve this spends around 30% more on education as a percentage of GDP, so it comes at a cost. Of course we can aspire to do better. Where we do poorly compared to Canada is the high school and university completion rates, not in the skills achieved.
3 :
As far as educational outcomes are concerned, I was unaware that the OECD differentiated between public and private education. The education statistics I was able to find on the OECD website showed Australia in a positive light. As with all countries there are areas we can improve on, but overall it look OK. Perhaps you could provide a link to your source of information. EDIT: Not sure how you managed to come to the conclusion that Australia is 2nd last out of the OECD countries listed, when the link you posted clearly shows Australia as 6th out of 17 OECD countries, and on a par with Japan, Switzerland and Sweden. How can we possibly be 2nd last? Just in case you don't know which countries are members of the OECD, here's a list: http://www.oecd.org/document/58/0,3343,en_2649_201185_1889402_1_1_1_1,00.html
4 :
You should always treat statistics with suspicion. They are generally produced by people that wish to make a point and that point is seldom the truth.
5 :
Au contrare mon ami! Australia is in the top 4 of educational standards in the world.Wherever you got your statistics they aren't telling the whole story. Why do you think all those foreign students come here for a better education?
6 :
Its probably not because of the schools but because the kids don't really care about grades. Well that's what it's like at my school.

Want to have knowledge on primary school curriculum esp. math in Australia?
As a parent I am interested in teaching methods regarding primary level math. What are the standards expected for a grade three student. Reading level, handwriting etc are all secondary questions I have. thanks extended: Is there a difference between the methods we studied and the methods that children follow at school. Will it confuse if we teach in traditional methods? What are the homework books I can use for a grade three child ? Where can I buy a handwriting practice book (Vic) for a child who is starting to link ( left hander). Please help.

You would be best to contact the department of education in whichever state you are interested in, as primary education is administered by stat governments. the Victorian education dept has a lot of info on theirs which may prove useful for you. have a look below
2 :
VELS - Victorian Essential Learning Standards - basically describes what a child is expected to achieve at each stage. Stage 3 is for grades 3-4 so a child in Grade 3 should be doing the stage 2 tasks confidently and beginning to learn the stage 3 tasks. In terms of curriculum, the school can cover the stages of VELS in any way they choose. Some schools use traditional methods; others might follow the IB PYP. Handwriting is similar - there is a Victorian script but some schools do not follow it. You could talk to the school you are interested in and ask about this.
3 :
for the victoriam standards you can o to the following websites: http://www.vels.vcaa.vic.edu.au this is the current standards, but you can get a clearer idea from the CSF2 framework fhis gives you progression points also http://www.csf.vcaa.vic.edu.au. I use these two sites a lot as i am currently studying to be a teacher

P.S. we don't call it math in australia - it is maths.

Hi, this is what I found (my translations, sorry if it is unclear): "Every year, 3.500 italians become anorexic, and circa 6.000 become bulimic, according to the latest data reported by the Minister of Health" "the people who get sick* are mostly between the age of 12 and 25. In the latest years, the incidence of anorexia is stable: 4 to 8 new cases every 100.000 inhabitants per year. The incidence of bulimia nervosa is, however, increasing; 9 to 12 out of 100.000 people become bulimic every year." http://noteesalute.blogspot.com/2008/08/i-dati-eurispes-ogni-anno-3500-italiani.html (in Italian) The data was recorded by Eurispes, a private institute of statistics, in 2008. I found some other data (here http://www.bulimianoressia.it/datistatistici.asp , it's a no-profit association that tries to help people who suffer from alimentation disorder), but it's a bit out-dated. If you are interested and need a translation, though, I'd be happy to help.

Yeah, from my experiences, I would say on the whole, Melbourne high schools are decent, having completed my high school diploma in Victoria. If your criteria of "decent" is the academic levels of Melbourne high schools, then I suggest you look at the "Top VCE Melbourne high schools" by "Entrance rank".

All Freshman must apply during the November time frame. So you could apply this november and start at a UC in Fall 2011.

UC Merced is open for both Freshman and transfers for the Spring 2011 semester. The application period ends on 31 July 2010. All other UC campuses are closed until Fall 2010, for which the application period is November 2010 (the application should be available on-line sometime in early October but cannot be submitted except between 1 and 30 November).
