It changes with government/catholic/private schools as their expectations and standards differ, but generally speaking they are all fairly intolerant of bad behaviour. I remember getting frequent detentions and suspended regularly, whilst not being a 'terrible' student

Usually it depends on the school. I got in a fight some kid a year ago and all i got was an afternoon detention and a note home, and i even started it. Swearing at a teacher will usually get you sent to the head of the department of what subject the teacher was teaching (EG: You swear at a science teacher you go to the head of science) That's my school though

most schools are intollerant of bad behaviour... but in my opinion punishments arent enough...bring back the cain :) but also depends weather you mean high scholl or primary... primary schools prob let a bit more go than what most high schools would, but at the same time high schools have alot more issues such as smoking, drugs, fights ect...

It really depends on the school, there are two types of schools here public and private. Public schools are usually less strict than private schools. Private schools are usually catholic/ religious thats why.

Im a student in australia at high school. I personally think its about the school like the others above me are saying. At my school though if you start a fight, in a fight, watching a fight, caught smoking, drugs etc you will be suspended for a minimal 3 days. I reckon my shool is good though on discipline :)
