Universities in Australia

Universities in Australia?
Im thinking about transferring to a school in australia once im done with my undergraduate here at FSU in florida. Are there any really great schools there? Like NYU,UF,Cornell, or Northwestern great. The only one I looked at was U of Sydney and their standardized test scores were pretty low

University of Sydney is one of the Go8 schools of Australia (equil to Ivy League in the US). It really depends what you are studying. I'm assuming you are looking at a postgraduate course. Each university has its own specialty so we need to know what subjects you are interested in.

I need a half page reflection on the wild fires in Australia for school it dosn't evan have to be a full half page please help..btw 10 points best answer!! by me saying i need a reflection of what happened in ausstralia like within the past week thanks.

At least 50 fires were burning in early December in Victoria, and many were threatening to merge into unified, large blazes. Weather conditions over the weekend were predicted to deteriorate, making the work of firefighters even more difficult. High temperatures and far-below-average rainfall in the area have elevated the late spring fire hazard across the region.

Southern Australia was engulfed in a raging wall of fire that has claimed 300 deaths so far. Many people were burnt to death in their cars whilst trying to escape the flames that reached nearly a hundred feet into the air at times. Many homes , livestock and pets were also incinerated in the fast moving fire. Police believe the fires were started deliberately by what is euphemistically called firebugs in Australia, but this terminology does little to reflect the seriousness of this crime and the huge loss of life.

I would just like to point out that the fires have not killed at least 300 people right now. The current confirmed death toll is 181 with fears it may rise over 300 once the emergency services can get to the more remote towns.

What universities in Australia are known for their nursing program? I am currently looking at the University of Queensland, but am unsure. Thanks!

G'day, There are plenty around Australia. There are (only) 43 universities in Australia, all of them are fully accredited and equally recognised. So you dun have to worry abt qualifications and reputation. Nursing is very high in demand and quota is filled very quickly. I suggest that you visit the online database below to find the uni offering nursing to int. students. Find the website and visit the int. students section of the website where you can find the entry requirements, course info and application form. Hope this helps. It depends what school you're at. Public schools and systemic catholic schools are very similar......averaging around $79k. Private schools are around $95k.. They have 4 , 10 week terms with 2 weeks holiday after each term..........and 6 to 8 weeks at the end of the year depending where you teach. Avereage is 12 weeks a year.

What is a good high school for me to go to?
im from Australia so im used to being hot i like sports and would probably be good enough for the basketball team im smart. the reason i want to go to the usa for high school is because im up a year at school and after i finish high school in australia im young to go to college (university) and i want to got to college in the usa so it would be easier if i went to high school first. i would like to go to a school in a big city and maybe one with many other foreign students and in a safe area because i will be alone.

Hello , i am 17 years old and i will do one english test , if my english is good i want to move to France or Sweden to finish the school and start the university , and maybe live there If my english is so bad i want to move to Australia to finish the school and start the university , and maybe live there . i have one questions , how much time do i need to live in France , Sweden or Australia to get citizenship ? , i will move with student visa . thanks a lot !

You need to apply for citizenship within that country, which can take several years. You can become a "naturalized" citizen of a country. In most cases, you have to live and work in the foreign country for approximately 5 years. The amount of time it will take to become a citizen is contingent on the country and their nationality law. I've attached some articles that can give you more information on the countries you're asking about. Read under the title "Registration and Naturalization"

For a start you need a residence permit to live in France. Students visa don't count towards getting citizenship. To get French citizenship you need to be living there at least five years and have to do a French language test. You also have to do a Swedish citizenship test, plus be living there five years before applying for citizenship.

This applies if you are from country whose citizens require a visa to visit Sweden: To be able to apply for a Swedish citizenship you must be living in Sweden on a permanent residence permit since at least five years. This time can be shorter for some people like refugees and spouses of Swedish citizens. If you are admitted to a Swedish university you may be granted a temporary residence permit, which will allow you to work, but will not count towards the five year minimum. For almost all university courses documented knowledge of Swedish or English is mandatory, in many cases both languages. If the Migration Board believes that you might be seeking a student visa just to be able to move to Sweden you will probably be denied entry. If you find a job, especially in a profession with a shortage of skilled labour you do have a reasonable chance of remaining in Sweden and eventually get a permanent residence permit, but there are no guarantees.

when you say ONE english test, what test is it? Australia will only accept IELTS. If you are on a student visa your time spent in that country does NOT count towards residency or citizenship. You must get legal residency status first before you can be eligible for citizenship. And to be eligible for citizenship you MUST LIVE and WORK there for 5 years as a legal resident.

Veterinary School (undergrad)

Veterinary School (undergrad)?
My understanding of Vet School is that one must take an undergrad of pre-vet courses (bachelor of science) and THEN apply to a vet school. But I've also heard that schools in Australia skip the pre-vet and incorporate it into their vet program. So in all it takes about six years. Is this correct? and are there any other schools like this?

In the US? No. Are you in australia? Their system and the UK one are different from ours (their MD is also different).

In the US, vet is a post-graduate course only. That means that you first get your bachelors degree in any subject, while also taking the vet school pre-req classes. Then you apply to vet school. In many other countries, vet (and medicine, and law) are not post-grad courses. They are undergraduate courses. So in Australia, you major in veterinary science for your bachelors degree. This is true in AU, in the UK, and throughout Europe. However, if you plan do to a professional course overseas, check first to be sure that you can practice in your home country with that overseas degree. Can you practice at all? If you can, do you have to jump through certain hoops first? In addition, depending on what country you're actually from, you may not be allowed entry into a medically-related course in certain overseas countries. For example, most (all?) med schools in the UK will not admit students from the US. They only admit foreign students if the student is coming from a country where the medical education is sub-par. I'm not sure of vet education - that, you'd need to check - but I wanted to raise the issue so you can ask the right questions.

Most Australian veterinary courses are undergrad but they have only limited places - for instance there are only 130 places in NSW of which only 10 are dedicated for overseas students. Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland and WA only have a single vet science (I think all are undergrad). South Australia has a postgrad degree but their intake is only 40 - so the competition is extremely hard especially for international students. In general, 10-20% of places are for international, 30% are for either postgrads coming in or people not straight from school and the rest are for students from school.
